In over 70 countries, companies increase their efficiency with DocuWare solutions. To better serve its customers and sales network of Authorized DocuWare Partners (ADPs) around the world, DocuWare significantly increased its sales team the last half of 2011. In the Americas, the number of Regional Sales Directors increased from eight to 14; in the DACH and EMEA regions, it went from 10 to 14.

New Subsidiary
In order to secure its market position for the long-term and more efficiently address different regions, on January 1, 2012 the software developer launched the wholly-owned subsidiary DocuWare Europe GmbH. With this addition, the company rounded out its strategy of bundling sales, support and training worldwide into separate organizations. The new subsidiary will be led by Martina Wienke/Vice President, Worldwide Finance as well as Max Ertl/Vice President, Sales for DACH, EMEA and Asia.

New Department: Worldwide Marketing
Additional changes were made within DocuWare’s management structure beginning on November 15, 2011. The DocuWare Group created a new Worldwide Marketing department that operates out of its US subsidiary in Newburgh, NY. The position of Vice President, Worldwide Marketing was assumed by Korbinian Frank. Mr. Frank had previously been based in Berlin where he had a managing position with Pixelpark, one of Germany’s leading Internet agencies.

Newburgh, August 18, 2011 –The new software solution version by DMS producer DocuWare is once again in compliance with the US Food and Drug Administration. The status was confirmed by an audit conducted according to regulations set forth by the FDA. This means that the integrated document management program may be used by companies closely regulated by the FDA in the pharmaceutical and food processing industries.

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulates the manufacturing, storing and sale of products in the pharmaceutical and food processing industries to protect American consumers. Audits are regularly performed on companies working in these fields as well as any of their vendors/suppliers, and all are required to conduct strict tests accompanied by detailed documentation. This also includes any foreign companies supplying the U.S. market. Even IT systems used in this area must meet FDA regulations. DocuWare 5.1c was submitted under the FDA’s Title 21 Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) Part 11 for the Pharmaceutical and Food Processing Industries. This CFR outlines the requirements that software – and the processes they control – must meet. DocuWare has held this certification since it was first audited at the end of 2006.
This year’s audit was again conducted by META Solutions Inc., an independent consulting company specialised in the pharmaceutical and food processing industries. At DocuWare’s German headquarters, all of the company’s internal processes regarding software development, service and quality control in addition to the programme’s functionality, were closely scrutinised.

As was the case the first time, the programme’s high level of security and support of all types of electronic signatures impressed the consultants. Further advantages noted include DocuWare’s tamper-free archiving, its consistent documentation of processes and comprehensive training program for employees and partners. Baskets Now Available Via the Web
An important component of the document management system are its baskets, which are used in much the same way as those found on a desk. They are now available with DocuWare Web Client and provide the same functionality as those of the proven Windows Client. All documents contained in baskets can also be shown in a viewer or opened in an original program (such as Microsoft Office), then edited and indexed for storage. It’s also possible, for example, to process multiple documents simultaneously and add annotations to every page of a document. Documents can be displayed in simple/detailed list form or as icons.
In addition, documents in Web Client may be displayed in cover flow mode. This is particularly helpful when scrolling through documents found in a basket.

New Clients and Modules.
Another highlight accompanying DocuWare 5.1c is the Smart Connect module for the simple integration of external applications. A user with basic IT knowhow can set up a configuration and place a special button anywhere in many of today’s leading software programs. At this point it just takes a mouse click to access documents that relate to a current transaction. The configuration program is Browser-based and can be directly opened out of Web Client – again, nothing needs to be installed locally.

Further Simplifying Daily Workflow Processes
Features for optimising processes were also a big focus during the development of DocuWare 5.1c. Using a new Notification Server, for example, an e-mail goes out as soon as a document has been stored or index entries have been changed. The configuration can be set up by an administrator or user; the service can then be easily shared with by other users. And last but not least…the system’s overall administration and installation were further simplified.

As part of The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) also known as the stimulus bill, hospitals and physicians can begin to receive financial incentives based on their use of Electronic Health Records (EHRs), but only if they can demonstrate to be “meaningful users” themselves.

Eligible professionals and hospitals who seek to qualify for incentive payments under the Medicare and Medicaid EHR Incentive Programs are required by statute to use Certified EHR Technology and must demonstrate use of a qualified EHR in a meaningful manner. In 2011, this would include, for example: improving quality, safety and efficiency and reducing healthcare disparities, engaging patients and families, coordination care and maintaining privacy and security of systems and data. “This certification validates DocuWare as a leader in the healthcare market and, at the same time, focuses the attention of hospital executives on the need to create a long term document management strategy for their facility.” Thomas Schneck, President of DocuWare AG.

Approximately 600 participants helped to once again make the annual Partner conferences hosted by DocuWare a complete success. Nearly 170 Partners came from Germany, Austria and Switzerland to attend DocuWorld D.A.C.H., which took place for the third consecutive time in Mallorca, Spain. With 280 registrations, DocuWorld Americas in Orlando achieved a new event participation record. The final DocuWorld in the series attracted about 140 DocuWare specialists from around Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA) to Berlin. DocuWare Co-President Thomas Schneck, responsible for Sales & Marketing, was able to report about the company’s worldwide success – 19 percent growth for 2010 and a very strong start into the new fiscal year. In the first quarter, the company enjoyed 20 percent growth in revenue over the same period in 2010.
